Call out to IAPI members for the election of four board positions
Call out to IAPI members for the election of four board positions

IAPI wish to encourage nominees to put themselves forward for the IAPI Board elections this November.

Each nominee is required to write a short description of why they feel they can make a valuable contribution to the industry as an IAPI Board member and send this, together with a photo and short biography to IAPI CEO, Charley Stoney.

This will be published on the IAPI website on Friday 16th October which is the deadline for nominations. Subsequently ballots will be forwarded to the relevant MDs to vote on the nominees.

The new Board Members will be announced at the AGM on Wed 25th November.

It is also worth noting that we’re very positive towards achieving a 50:50 gender balance on the board.

The key skillsets needed on the IAPI Board for the next 3 years
The key skillsets needed on the IAPI Board for the next 3 years
1. Treasurer & Commercial Lead
1. Treasurer & Commercial Lead

Our last two Treasurers, Arthur Byrne and John Mathews have been vital for the IAPI Board. The role of Treasurer includes casting an expert eye over IAPI’s accounts on a quarterly and annual basis. As importantly, we need someone on the Board who can provide sound commercial and financial advice for our members, particularly during the months and even years ahead as we work through Covid and out the other side.

If you are a Financial Director/Controller in an IAPI agency and feel you would like to give back to the industry and are prepared to share your financial knowledge and commercial wisdom with the IAPI board and its’ members, please put yourself forward!

2. Diversity & Inclusion Council Lead
2. Diversity & Inclusion Council Lead

IAPI have succeeded in implementing some key initiatives for gender equality over the past few years which have helped to significantly improve the number of women on agency Boards to 37% (2019 Industry Census) but there is still some way to go. Especially within senior Creative roles.

Furthermore, and more importantly than ever before, we need to provide the industry with policies and guidance on having a fully inclusive culture that embraces diversity in all it’s forms. Our aim is to fundamentally enhance our workforce so that it is truly representative of all aspects of Ireland’s socio-economic, multi-cultural and highly diverse population.

If you are passionate about developing truly inclusive cultures that help to embrace diversity in all its forms, then we would love you to put your name forward to lead our D&I Council.

If you wish to know more about the D&I initiatives IAPI have undertaken here are a couple of links to some of this years’ initiatives:

3. Creative Council

Another of IAPI’s strategic aims is to promote Ireland’s advertising sector as a centre of creative excellence for brands wishing to target the European markets. “Creative is Native” is being officially launched on 5th November and all the CDs across IAPIs’ membership have been engaged in the process.

Working with Sean Hynes, and the rest of the IAPI Board, we need to maintain momentum both in terms of engagement with CDs across the membership as well as coming up with fresh ideas to promote Irish creativity both domestically and internationally.

IAPI also run inspirational events aimed at the creative community and so we’re looking for someone with a fresh perspective on these events, so they maintain their appeal to budding and seasoned creatives.

In addition, as part of the D&I strategy mentioned above, any help we can get to encourage female creatives to stay in the industry and put themselves forward for senior creative roles, would be welcomed!

If you have between 5-8 years’ experience in a senior creative role and feel that you’d like to contribute to the future direction of creativity across the industry, please put yourself forward.

4. Futureheads Chair
4. Futureheads Chair

As the Futureheads Chair, you would lead a council of between 6-8 members with help from the IAPI executive. The Futureheads is designed to engage with all those under 30s in the industry who may feel that their junior position puts them out of reach of decision making. Futureheads gives them the opportunity to create a network of like-minded people, connect with senior leads through mentorship, have fun (when not social distancing!) and put on inspirational events when they’re needed.

At a time when we’re facing so much uncertainty, it is this age group that are particularly engaged and active when it comes to addressing mental health challenges, highlighting social injustice, campaigning on climate change and seeking equality in all its forms.

If you are under 30, have experience in working with teams, are highly organised and love the industry, then please put yourself forward!
