Today, over 210 young professionals from agency and brand side convened for the 2024 briefing session, hosted by IAPI at dentsu Ireland. These aspiring young lions will compete to represent Ireland across the 7 categories including Print, Media, Public Relations, Film, Digital, Design, and Young Marketers in the Global Young Lions competitions this June in Cannes, France.

The Institute of Advertising Practitioners Ireland (IAPI) are honoured to partner with our chosen charities Threshold and Children in Hospital Ireland for the 2024 Irish Young Lions Competitions. Charley Stoney, CEO, IAPI said “This year's chosen charities will allow young creatives to support impactful causes while honing their creative skills. It makes me so proud to be able to support these worthy charities during our Young Lions national competition. Both organisations have an important part to play in improving the lives of people living in Ireland. I believe the Young Lions will enjoy working on these challenging briefs and I can’t wait to see the creative ideas generated.”

The chosen charity for Media, Digital and Film is Threshold a national housing charity in Ireland, dedicated to preventing homelessness and advocating for the rights of those in need of housing. With a mission to secure a right to housing for private renters experiencing poverty and exclusion, Threshold strive to achieve this by influencing housing policy.

John-Mark McCafferty, Chief Executive, Threshold stated ‘Threshold, the national housing charity, is absolutely delighted and privileged to have been selected as a Cannes Young Lions charity this year. As the national leader advising private renters and protecting tenancies, it is more crucial than ever that we build and maintain our profile and voice across Irish audiences. Staying relevant, raising vital funds and letting people know we exist to support them in their rented home can only be done with the right branding and messaging. That’s why being a Cannes Young Lions charity is so important to us. The competition can help enhance our presence and our impact in the midst of such a challenging housing crisis.’

The chosen charity for Print, PR, Young Marketers and Design is Children in Hospital Ireland. Children in Hospital Ireland is committed to promoting and supporting the well-being of children, young people, and their families before, during, and after hospitalisation. Their vision is for every child and young person availing of hospital services to have their fundamental rights fully respected. Through various programs and initiatives, they strive to create a more comfortable and supportive environment for children undergoing medical treatment.

Anna Gunning, CEO, Children in Hospital Ireland "Children in Hospital Ireland are honoured to be part of IAPI's Cannes Young Lions competition this year. We are always looking for new ways to raise awareness of our work and maximise supports for children in hospital and their families. What better way than to partner with the young creatives of Ireland. We are so excited to see how they take on our communication challenges and bring new ideas to the table. We wish all participants the very best of luck."

Similar to previous years, the participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with these charities to develop innovative campaigns that raise awareness and support their key initiatives. Working under a tight deadline they have until midnight on Sunday 18th February to submit their work.
