POP (Power of Press) is a programme run by National Newspapers of Ireland that aims to communicate the vibrancy and relevance of newspapers in all formats to up-and-coming media stars.

On Tuesday, April 28th, the second  POP Planning Competition will take place. (The first competition was won by Starcom.)

It’s a day-long event at The Factory on Barrow Street, starting with presentations from the judging panel of three key industry figures:

  • Jennifer Fitzsimons, National Advertising Manager Harvey Norman
  • Ger Roe, Creative Director Publicis
  • Ruth Payne, Media Director Javelin

Each planning team of 5 will be given a brief and, before starting their preparations, will have the opportunity to “speed network” with the NNI publishers.

After several hours planning time, each team will then present to the judging panel.  The winning team will be announced at an event on April 30th in the Chocolate Factory, where we will also reveal more exciting news.

If you’d like to get involved, please contact Ann Marie Lenihan (amlenihan@nni.ie) to nominate one or more teams of five young media planners.  Each of the team members should have maximum three years’ experience in a planning/buying/media strategy role.
