Encouraging more second-level students to learn about and consider careers in creative media

This year, the Art Teachers' Association of Ireland and Teacher Professional Networks (TPN) invited IAPI & Griffith College to their annual virtual conference 'Creatively Changing.'

IAPI and Griffith College were thrilled to present to this group and launch this years' Creative Bursary directly to the teachers whose students will benefit from it.

We were joined by Conor Marron from Boys+Girls who discussed his career path and what his day to day work as an Art Director in an agency entails.

The line up also included presentations from Junk Kouture (followed by a live Q&A), Rose McGrath (Head of MTU Crawford), Avril O'Brien (Crawford), Marie Murphy (award-winning Makeup Artist/Contestant on Glow Up Ireland) and Bernie McGonagle (discussing her outstanding hand drawn Visual Studies resources).

Griffith College and IAPI want more second-level students to learn about and consider careers in the growing industry of creative media.

Creating links and relationships with the students and teachers of second level schools is fundamental to developing the next generation of talent that we hope to attract into our industry.

This is IAPI's third year to partner with Griffith College on this Creative Bursary and it's aims is to encourage students to participate in creative projects at an early stage and as such open their eyes to this viable career path.

This year we also welcome the generous support of Media365 in promoting the bursary to a wider audience via media sponsorship.

Set Your CREATIVITY Free - Envision the University Campus of 2050

Griffith College have once again generously provided bursary funding of €10,000 which will be allocated across the winning schools and used to make improvements to the schools' art departments, investing in equipment and projects to develop students' creative skills,

On top of that IAPI member agencies will provide experiential opportunities in the form of additional training, workshops and on-site agency visits for the winning students.

This year's theme ties in with Griffith's 50th anniversary. We are asking secondary students to set their creativity free and envision the university campus of 2050. What would the classroom, the library, the shared study spaces, the campus of the future look like to enhance the teaching and learning experience?

Please find the link to the application page with further details here. The competition deadline is the 31st January 2024. If you would like further information regarding the bursary please contact Keith O'Connor in IAPI.
