This is an opportunity for IAPI Members to engage and inspire young minds through the NEIC and IAPI development programme

Help us introduce our Sector to a rich source of untapped potential future talent. We are looking to secure high quality work-experience placements for TY & LCA students from 6 DEIS Schools in the coming school year.

The North East Inner City (NEIC) Initiative is a social regeneration initiative endorsed by Government involving local communities charged with creating opportunities to bring about lasting, positive change in the area. Join Keith O’Connor, Olive Ojo NEIC Project Manager, Ellie Bradshaw Business & Operations Manager - Verve and Kieran Killeen, Managing Director - Marketing Network, for this informative chat.

We will discuss how Work Experience has the potential to make a real difference in the lives of young people. Often, work placements can reflect and reproduce patterns of inequality with working class students getting working class placements and middle-class pupils experiencing the benefits of “professional placements”. The NEIC work experience placement programme is a conscious effort to combat this trend and is one strand in a coordinated effort to open opportunities, raise awareness and aspirations and ultimately to provide students in Dublin 1 schools with access to and insight into professions and career paths outside their existing network.

This programme provides IAPI members with the opportunity to bring about change for these students. During this Zoom, we will hear from IAPI members who have previously taken part in the programme. They will discuss how they felt the week long placements benefitted both the agency and the students. The NEIC have now begun preparing for the next school year (2023-2024) with a goal to provide more placement options to their students and to continue to raise the aspirations of students in the NEIC.

With over 200 students seeking work experience, placements for October and November 2023 take place over the following weeks

  • 23-27 OCT
  • 13-17 NOV
  • 20-24 NOV
  • 27 NOV - 1 DEC

Please note NEIC are trialing shorter working hours for students with all their host companies and are suggesting a schedule of 10am-3pm, with time made for lunch.

If you feel you could provide a placement during the weeks mentioned above and you would like to learn more and potentially sign up then please join us on 30 August at 11am for this informative session. Sign up via Zoom>>
