The Media Strategy Director will be responsible for leading Mediaworks’ reputation for best in market media planning. You will work with all teams in Mediaworks to advise and support across all responses, ensuring that the quality of media planning and media thinking is of the highest level. This position will work with colleagues to ensure effectiveness to our recommendations and thereby help to deliver award winning work on behalf of our team and our clients.

Key to success will be an understanding of leading media thinking, a curiosity to stay constantly ahead of the curve, an appetite to become expert in all media planning software and tools available, and an openness to share with and be available to colleagues across the business.

You will play a key role in competitive new business pitches. This includes working collaboratively with colleagues in Mediaworks and Core to, agree the strategic direction and ultimately help to lead the team as appropriate in such pitches.

Outside of Mediaworks the Media Strategy Director will work with strategists from across Core finalising our overall Core strategic planning process. You will also take responsibility for its roll out, training and adoption within Mediaworks, alongside other Core planning tools.

This will be a client facing role as appropriate.

  • Our Media Strategy Director will assist and advise colleagues in responses to all client briefs. Both upon a brief landing, and in advance of media proposals being presented to clients, they will be discussed by the planners with the Media Strategy Director by way of reassurance the strategies are correct and stand up to interrogation from the client (and potentially, the auditor).
  • This includes directing the team in the use of the agreed Core media planning process plus ensuring proper use of all relevant planning tools we have at our disposal.
  • Full participation with the new group of four senior media strategists, representing each of the four Core Media Teams, and with the Core Strategy Practice. This is a critically important forum for shared learnings and knowledge with the very important responsibility to ensure Core is to the forefront in terms of developing first class media solutions to clients.
  • In the absence of a proper client brief, this role will include assisting the planning team to create a brief which can be presented back to client for approval in advance of the planning commencing.
  • To pro-actively review relevant data and marketplace information which may be shared with colleagues and which may be then collectively shared with clients as judged appropriate/relevant.
  • To review all awards submissions and provide feedback as may be relevant in advance of awards being forwarded to judging committees.
  • This new colleague will be the champion of effectiveness.
  • This will be a client facing role for top tier clients and new business leads, though those accounts will continue to be fronted and lead by the Business Director. They will also support in the background for all other clients.
  • This person will help to train the other planners in Mediaworks to be the best media planners they can be.
  • This person will embrace training opportunities and be a tutor at appropriate occasions with Core Learning.
  • This person will apply the latest thinking and be very well versed on all relevant marketing and media literature (Core Library etc).
