Account Executive

As an Account Executive in the planning team, you will be an integral part of the client/planning team at PHD, providing essential support to planning Account Managers and Account Directors, helping to deliver great work and exceptional client service on a day-to-day basis.

You play a pivotal role in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of work and are required to engage other departments at PHD and specialist functions to manage consistent execution of client strategies across all plans. You will start to own smaller briefs yourself and develop relationships with your peers in other departments across the agency.

You’ll develop strong external relationships too, with junior clients and client agency partners that will be invaluable to gaining knowledge of how our clients work as well as the wider marketing process.

This role reports to the Group Client Lead.

Specific skills related to this role

• Take ownership of reporting/status updates with accuracy and clear attention to detail

• Understand and take responsibility for managing day-to-day finances on individual clients liaising with finance teams

• Know how to do common media planning calculations and understand media jargon and terminology (Cover, Frequency, TVRs etc.)

• Interrogate data from a wide range of industry insight tools/systems and can distil a variety of information into a succinct, relevant and compelling narrative

(a) Strong competence on all Microsoft office

(b) Strong use and understanding of TGI, AdDynamix, DDS, MediaStar, Arianna, Xpert, Vision

(c) Design presentations in an attractive way

• Understand the role of channels, how they can be used and how they can work together

• In-depth knowledge of the media landscape and emerging trends that could be relevant for your clients’ business

• Collaborate and work effectively with the Investment teams to implement detailed media plans that deliver on the agreed strategy

• Can put together a comprehensive post campaign analysis, getting results from all channels plus other measures of success (i.e. tracking and econometrics) and evaluating in line with original brief/KPI’s, pulling learning’s for future activity

• Demonstrate an enthusiasm to learn about the industry for example by reading industry newsletters and attending internal training/forums

• Understand & assist in the management of all facets of creative delivery & tracking that are required to ensure all campaigns are live & happen in accordance with the schedule

a) Commercial Acumen

• Manage the financial process in conjunction with your manager, peers in other departments, the finance team at PHD to ensure timely and accurate client invoicing, with the goal of eliminating queries and aged debt

b) Communication

• Have an opinion on what you see and hear

• Be a consummate written and verbal communicator, equally comfortable dealing with media owners, clients and other OMGers

• Write basic presentations and deliver them internally or to clients of an appropriate level

• Clearly and succinctly brief and collaboratively work with other OMG departments

• Contribute to wider agency initiatives - attend meetings, give your opinion and seek out opportunities to share great work

• Listen, take personal responsibility for retaining and absorbing information (i.e. familiarise yourself where to find information)

c) Teamwork

• Understand your role within the wider team, collaborating with colleagues not only in your client team but across all other parts of OMG

• Demonstrate a positive can do attitude and contribute towards creating a positive energy across your team

• Help promote sharing of brilliant work amongst peer group, throughout the department and agency

d) Work Quality

• Contribute to exceptional standards of client servicing in all team outputs

• Take pride in the delivery of accurate work both internally & externally which is delivered within agreed deadline

• Deliver detailed information in an easily digestible form for clients, being mindful of how busy they are and how they will be consuming it

• Proactively manage your workload as well as managing upwards to ensure managers and ADs are kept abreast of pressure points. Offer your recommended solution to potential problems that might arise

e) Client

• Understand your client’s business, how they make money, their business vision, their consumers and communications objectives

• Build strong relationships based on your expertise with clients of an appropriate level

• Be organised and take responsibility for the ownership of specific work-streams as well as wider account tasks, regularly updating clients on your progress

• Run client meetings, from setting agendas to chairing and capturing and distributing actions in contact reports

• Understand clients KPI’s and PHD’s investment requirements

f) Leadership

• Where you can, impart knowledge and be a friendly face and sympathetic ear (managing any issues upwards effectively)

• Take a leading role in managing teams across disciplines on projects/work streams
