The physical return to the office brings with it new challenges and anxieties.
The physical return to the office brings with it new challenges and anxieties.

As the Covid 19 restrictions begin to ease many of us are thrilled and delighted at the prospect of once again sharing a physical space with colleagues and friends.

For others, this transition to the new 'normal' brings with it many challenges, worries and new anxieties. Many of us have been working in isolation now for over a year. Some have begun new jobs having never met their team or visited their new workplaces. The stress induced by the pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns have never been experienced before.

In acknowledging this, we decided to put this webinar together to assist members in the return to the office when restrictions fully lift. Implicit to this is the realisation that we have all been on a journey and that learning and building are part of arriving at a new beginning point.

We have asked clinical psychotherapist, Stephanie Regan to look at -

  • The journey itself and the very individual nature of it
  • The challenge and impact of remote working for all staff including management for the past year
  • That re-evaluation of life that has occurred and how it has translated into our attitude and feelings toward the workplace
  • The core elements of work that makes us happy and well, clearer now than ever before
  • The imperative of learning from our experience and bringing the best parts forward and how to do that.
  • Understanding reticence, anxiety and other psychological dynamics that can appear and surprise us as we emerge from a year of restrictions

About Stephanie Regan

Grappling with the brokenness of relationships and life describes the work I do as a psychotherapist. For the past thirty years, I’ve helped my patients to find the light in their darkness and to make choices that change their lives.

Having studied Maths and Economics, I turned to Social Work and Psychotherapy, in particular within the psychiatric setting, qualifying in 1990. Since then, I’ve worked as a private practitioner focusing on all aspects of mental health including stress, depression, anxiety, relationships, loss and trauma.

I’ve spent many years promoting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, years before it became a popular subject – I gave talks and presentations, convinced management of its value and ultimately got them to put their money behind the health of their staff. Something I’m proud of.

Now, I contribute each week as “relationship expert” on Newstalk Radio’s The Hard Shoulder with Ivan Yates and regularly on Ireland AM – the nation’s only morning TV show.
