IAPI, in collaboration with Hayes Solicitors, presents a seminar on best legal practice.  We will discuss issues which arise in the context of legal agreements between agencies and their clients, and provide practical suggestions of how to deal with these issues. We will also look at IP created by agencies and what protection exists in this area.

The key areas we will discuss are:

Intellectual Property Rights: Who owns what when it comes to creative ideas? How to deal with intellectual property issues in an agreement or when agency/client relations comes to an end. 
Indemnities and limitations on liability: what do these clauses really mean? When it comes to contracts issued by claints to agencies, what areas should agencies be careful to note? 
Obligations of an agency under an agreement: Understanding the full extent of your obligations to your client.
 

Laura Fannin is an associate solicitor in the Commercial & Business team at Hayes Solicitors. Laura provides specialist advice to brands and agencies on all areas of marketing and advertising law and is the key contact in this area in Hayes Solicitors. Her work includes providing copy clearance advice to ensure that advertising and marketing campaigns comply with all existing legislation and industry codes and advising on intellectual property law, including ownership and  protection of IP rights. 

Laura has expertise in drafting, reviewing and advising on contracts entered between agencies and brands for the provision of advertising and marketing services. Laura advises brands and agencies on all aspects of promotional marketing activities which includes advising on lotteries and data protection issues.
