BREAK INTO ADVERTISING - 2022 Programme Launch
BREAK INTO ADVERTISING - 2022 Programme Launch

IAPI are delighted to announce our second mentoring partnership programme with The Open Doors Initiative.

  • Open your Agency Doors to the marginalised individuals in our society.
  • Improve the diversity of your team.
  • Give someone a unique opportunity to enter our Industry.

Under the banner of "Break into Advertising" IAPI & Open Doors want to provide 15 individuals with online training that is launching in March 2022. The training will be provided over a three week period, conducted by participating IAPI members and The Open Doors Initiative. Following this training, we will partner the 15 students with 15 agencies.

We now invite you to register for our launch event on the 26th of January at 10:30 AM.

We will be joined by Jeanne McDonagh (CEO of The Open Doors Initiative), and past programme participants (both student and agency) who will share their success stories from last years' programme.

The programme helps to support marginalised groups in accessing training, work experience, mentoring and employment. By the end of the programme, we aim to see each pairing result in a 3 month paid internship.

The benefits of what we are doing will be two-fold – it will open up the labour market to some of those who have been unable to access it; and in doing so it will help us to attract and retain our future workforces.

The Open Doors Initiative provides opportunities to some of the marginalised members of our society. They create pathways to work through training, education and employment. Some of the people Open Doors work with include:

  • Refugee, asylum seekers and non-native English speakers.
  • Young people under 25 with educational barriers.
  • People with a disability.

In Ireland today, these groups face higher barriers to employment than most others.

The purpose of Open Doors is to create pathways to employment for marginalised people. Read more on Open Doors.

"The Open Doors Initiative members helped over 2,300 people on pathways to work last year with 33 companies. Membership and support have since increased to 45 organisations (a mix of multinational, SME, education and semi-state), Government departments and 24 Supporting Partners including various NGOS to create pathways to employability.

We are delighted to be now working with IAPI's members as well to further our work."

Jeanne McDonagh (CEO Open Doors)
