IAPI are thrilled to welcome Nic Lobo, Awards Account Management & Customer Lead at Cannes Lions to talk about award-winning creative work and what it takes to win a Cannes Lion.
Join us to gain key insights on producing and showcasing award-winning work. Nic will:
- Explain the value of a Lion and what winning one can do for you.
- Take us through the changes and updates for 2020 to help you prepare your entries; including which elements to carefully consider before and during your entry creation.
- Speak about the judging process and highlight important areas to focus on for crafting your entry.
- Provide us with some amazing Lion winning examples plus advice from jurors for entrants (new or experienced).
Joining Nic will be Rothco Executive Creative Director Jen Speirs who will be sharing her previous experience as a Cannes Lions winner and Cannes Lions judge. Jen will be showcasing some of her own award-winning work as well as other renowned work she admires and talking about what it takes to win.

Nic leads the teams who provide awards services to the 3,000+ global companies who enter their creative work. He has worked in the Awards team for nine years in shaping the entry experience, managing jury rooms and assisting companies navigate their way from entry form to the main stage.
With exposure to an estimated 45k entries he has received an informal education in commercial creativity and how best to prepare and present your work for the world stage. His advice and insights have been used by major networks, brands and agencies such as Apple, ABInBev, WWE, Vice, Google, Merryl Lynch, BBDO, Ogilvy, DDB, Droga5, Wieden + Kennedy, Facebook, Wavemaker, MJZ, BBC.
Jen Speirs, Executive Creative Director, Rothco | Accenture Interactive
Jen Speirs is the Executive Creative Director at Rothco | Accenture Interactive. Jen has created award-winning work for brands like Carefree, Arnott’s, McDonald’s, Berlei, TAL, Bonds, UN Women and the Workplace Gender Equality Agency. She has been on several award juries, both national and international – including Cannes, Spikes and The Immortals, and been invited to speak at events, such as the inaugural Australian 3% Conference. Her work has been awarded at shows including NY Festivals, ADMA, AWARD, Cannes, Effies, Media Federation, John Caples and Spikes.
Throughout her career, Jen has had the privilege of working with some amazing people and has pitched for, won and run some much-loved brands. Whether it’s for bras, booze, banks, beauty or burgers, her passion is to create award-winning, culturally-relevant communications, in any media – and to do so in a diverse creative department.
