You’re not alone in wanting the right to switch off
You’re not alone in wanting the right to switch off

The line between work and home life has blurred considerable and we invite you to join us for this webinar on Wednesday, 31st March at 1pm to discuss The Right to Switch Off.

Employees who work remotely report benefits that include increased flexibility to manage work/home life balance and gaining back valuable time by avoiding the daily commute. Businesses also benefit from remote working arrangements through increased retention, access to a wider talent pool, enhanced productivity, and cost efficiencies.

However, it is equally important to recognise that some employees report major challenges notably social isolation and loneliness when working remotely. Excessive working hours, additional anxiety and stress are also potential downsides of remote working. These issues can be difficult for managers to recognise while working apart from their team and to know how best to support remotely.

The Futureheads Council noticed a distinct increase in this amongst the younger cohort, particularly those who have been on-boarded during Covid and who may never have experienced the agency/office culture firsthand and that has led us to this special webinar.

"You’re not alone in wanting the right to switch off," says business psychologist Jessica Lee. "And there are some protections already in place plus there’s lots you can do as an employee and indeed, an employer to make working from home a little easier. A lot of people are experiencing the feeling of not being able to switch off and generally speaking, we're working longer hours this past year. A large part of our community and connection has lessened as well."

In the second in our Futureheads 'Silver Linings' webinar series we welcome this panel of professionals who will offer some tips for both managers and employees in how they can best manage expectations, set boundaries for themselves, ask for feedback and continue to create connections with their wider team while working remotely.

We are delighted to be joined by panellists:

  • Jessica Lee, Business Psychology Consultant
  • Kieran O'Donovan, Group Account Director, THINKHOUSE
  • Laura Mohan, HR Business Partner, CORE

The discussion will be moderated by:

  • Jamie Fulham, Media Strategy & Investment Manager, ROTHCO, & Futureheads Chair

In preparation, we invite you to fill out this short survey on your experience of working remotely. Your responses will remain anonymous & won't be shared with anyone else. We will compile the results to help the panel discuss the most prominent issues that we are facing right now.
