Media's role in creating a more inclusive Ireland
Media's role in creating a more inclusive Ireland

Advocates Ireland, in conjunction with Core, Diageo, IAPI, Marketing Institute Ireland, QAPI and TU Dublin are hosting this event for all digital, media and marketing professionals and students, to open up the conversation about media’s role in making our industry as inclusive as possible.

Learn how you can improve the inclusivity of your brand through the management of your media campaigns.

  • What does your ad placement say about your brand?
  • How do you identify inclusive placement?
  • How do you balance brand safety and modern journalism?
  • And why does it matter?

Following the welcome address by Etain Kidney and Rosie Hand from TU Dublin, the stage will open with an insightful talk by Pradeep Mahadeshwar, a visual artist and advocate from Queer Asian Pride Ireland (QAPI). Pradeep’s talk, "The Medium is the Message," will share lived experiences from the queer migrant community in Ireland. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the historical challenges faced by this community, the impact of layered discrimination, and the difficulties in activism. Pradeep will also highlight how brands can play a powerful role in fostering solidarity and advocating for inclusivity.

Therese Prendiville, Senior Media Manager at Core Media, will share best practice strategies for safeguarding brand integrity across channels. As a leader from Ireland's largest marketing communications company, Therese will demonstrate how Core actively works to protect brand safety while ensuring media campaigns align with modern journalism and brand values.

Liam El Sibai, Brand Manager at Diageo, will discuss how Diageo fosters diversity and inclusion within Irish media. Liam’s talk will delve into identifying authentic connections between brands and communities through inclusive planning, accessible media, and championing underrepresented voices. Following that, Laura O'Donovan from the Irish Centre for Diversity will discuss best inclusion practices, drawing on examples from both public and private sectors.

The event will conclude with a panel discussion moderated by Catherine Fitzgibbon, Chief People Officer at Core, followed by closing comments from Christine Matthews of ADvocates Ireland.

This event takes place at TU Dublin’s city centre campus on Aungier Street, Dublin 2. Doors open 8:30am, welcome address is 9:00am and we will finish at 11:00am.
