Our goal is to nurture creativity for anyone seeking a career break into the commercial creative industry.

Whether you’re starting out or have a bit of experience we curate a number of events throughout the year to encourage and develop talent.

From talks to training, workshops to masterclasses, we will assist you in improving your skills, keep you up to speed on current trends, and provide a safe space to network with like-minded practitioners.

The Cannes Young Lions
The Cannes Young Lions

IAPI is the official Irish representative for Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. We were awarded 'best country representative' for 2016.

In 2018, we brought six teams. 12 of Ireland’s most creative young stars competing on an international stage in Cannes, against teams from all over the world in the Film, Print, PR, Digital, Media and Young Marketer categories. It was a once in a lifetime experience for them to represent their respective industries on an international stage. Read more about Team Ireland 2018 here.

In 2019, we will be bringing seven teams, 14 Young Lions who will compete against teams from all over the world in the Film, Print, PR, Digital, Design, Media and Marketing disciplines. You can meet Team Ireland 2019 here.

The Direct Challenge
The Direct Challenge

The Direct Challenge competition asks creatives, planners and executives to create a winning direct mail campaign for the charity of their choice. This initiative between An Post and IAPI promoted the creative freedom of Direct Mail campaigns.

The 2019 winning team, from Publicis, picked up the top prize – a week at the Cannes Lions International Festival – with their excellent direct mail ad campaign titled ‘Do You Recognise Your Details?’ Their nominated charity, The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland, also picked up an An Post Direct Mail ad campaign worth €20,000.

The winning team will be flown to this year’s Cannes Lions advertising/creative festival, with accommodation and a full week’s pass. The team’s chosen charity will also win a direct mail campaign worth €20,000.

Future Heads
Future Heads

45% of all IAPI agency employees are under 30 years of age. This statistic is one of the reasons that the Future Heads leadership committee was firstly established and secondly why it is such an important part of IAPI.

The Future Heads committee’s focus is to ensure that we give a voice to those people within our industry who have either just started out or are in the infancy stage of their advertising career. The committee is made up of passionate, dedicated individuals who have made a commitment to banish agency barriers and work together to proactively develop, retain and motivate our colleagues.

To reach the student population, we host an annual event, ADEXPO. This is a career expo that provides students, graduates and budding advertising aficionados with an insight into the advertising industry. It’s a relaxed event where students can speak to people already working in the industry and ask any questions. Alongside this event, we produce an Internship and Graduate Guidebook.

We also host mentoring evenings where people with the likes of 1-3 years’ experience can speak to those with 5-7 years’ experience. Again, it’s an event that focuses on people being able to really ask the questions they most want answered and the questions which will benefit them.

The event highlight of the year is the Summer Party where everyone from all agencies is invited. This usually involves a BBQ, music and beers but it always involves the Agency Ping Pong competition- where we see agencies at their most competitive!

Finally, we speak to today’s leaders to understand what will be needed for and from tomorrow’s leaders. We meet each of the agency MDs to discuss what we can do for and with their young workforce. Motivation is at the heart of this as we know that a happy and motivated workforce is more likely to stay with us.
