Looking at the Future of Talent for our Industry
Looking at the Future of Talent for our Industry

Talent attraction has always been a top priority for the Board and members of IAPI. One particular group that we have been concerned and conscious of are the nations' college students and in particular this year's graduates.

We have seen direct competition from the tech sector over the last decade resulting in an impact on both the volume and diversity of the talent we are attracting to our industry. To compound these issues, last year has proven difficult on so many levels for so many people it can be hard to quantify the full impact of lockdown on the future of talent.

We would normally be able to embark on face to face presentations in colleges explaining and extolling the virtues of the Commercial Creative Communications industry. This year proved to be difficult in gaining access to these students but we found a way around the restrictive lockdowns and remote learning.

Using Ireland, Where Creative is Native as a theme, we worked with educational institutions to set some student course work. We are delighted to present some examples of the amazing talent that is graduating this year into the jobs marketplace. We want to be able to provide a bridge to you, our members, in accessing this fresh talent pool.

The Brief
The Brief

We engaged with students from Maynooth University in delivering a project based around the C=N initiative. The students were asked to promote Ireland as a centre of excellence in the Commercial Creative Communications world and to pivot this campaign around the tagline "Ireland, Where Creative is Native".

The task was to deliver a written submission explaining the creative solution, the process that led to it and the ideation that resulted in their submitted executions.

The resulting executions were intended to provide a campaign that would inspire credibility and consideration both for our own IAPI members and provide awareness and appraisal in the international marketplace. Both groups were asked to deliver a OOH campaign that would speak to the relevant market that it was being directed at. We've assembled a few examples of the work here from the MSc. Marketing students of Dr. Christina O'Connor, School of Business in Maynooth University.

As we engage with students throughout the year we asked them to register their details on the IAPI Career page.

The resulting database is available to IAPI HR managers. If you are planning on launching internships as your workplace opens up, please do not hesitate to contact Keith@iapi.com for a list of the students who have registered their interest. This is one of the ways we will be able to ensure that you continue to attract the best and most relevant talent to our industry.
