The Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI), the independent self-regulatory body committed to promoting the highest standards of marketing communications in Ireland, has appointed Fergus O’Toole to its Complaints Committee.

The Complaints Committee is a completely independent arm of the ASAI and is responsible for considering and adjudicating complaints submitted by the public, by an organisation, by a Government Department, or any other person or body. The Committee is made up of a range of experts from the advertising, media, education, consumer, and marketing sectors.

With almost 15 years operating in a regulatory environment, Fergus is currently the Deputy Director in the Consumer Protection Division of the CCPC. Prior to joining the CCPC in 2019, Fergus worked for the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU).

As a result, he brings a wealth of policy experience to the Complaints Committee across the areas such as regulation, energy, consumer affairs, and alternative dispute resolution. Fergus is a graduate of both Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin.

“We’re delighted to welcome Fergus to his new role at the Complaints Committee," said Orla Twomey, Chief Executive of the ASAI. "I’m looking forward to working alongside someone with his expertise and I have no doubt that he will bring a wealth of experience and insights to the ASAI. On behalf of myself, our Chairman Sean O’Meara, and the ASAI executive, we would like to wish Fergus every success in his new role within the organisation.”
