For the past few weeks TG4 have been re-airing Ireland’s classic Italia 90 run every Friday night.
Publicis Dublin saw an opportunity to do something that would really resonate with the Irish people and “bring a smile to their faces up and down the country” said copywriter Peter Dobbyn.
It’s impossible to think about Italia 90, without being reminded of Italy's Salvatore Schillaci goal—the end of the dream.
Publicis got all the footage for the games, and the team's in-house motion graphics department did an excellent job of veering the ball wide followed by shots of devastated Italian players and fans taken from the semifinal, when Italy were knocked out by Argentina on penalty kicks.
