A newly launched Dublin digital agency says it is aiming to create more than 30 jobs in the city in the next 18 months.

MWi, headed by Irish marketing and media expert, Declan Kelly is aiming to disrupt the Irish digital marketing industry with its unique approach to data, insight, technology and creativity. Kelly spent more than 16 years at Zenith before leaving to head up operations for MWi this summer.

They have immediately established a new base in the heart of Dublin’s creative and advertising quarter along Baggot Street and its recruitment push, it says, is based on targeting more than €1.5m revenue in its first year of trading.

The venture, which has already been accepted as a member of the Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI), is part of North-East England headquartered Mediaworks UK.

It’s the 15-year-old digital agency’s first operation outside of the UK, having grown to more than 150 UK-based staff across its HQ in Newcastle, and recently launched operations in Leeds and Edinburgh.

Despite launching its Leeds office just weeks before the pandemic, the team has already grown with over 30 staff and a raft of key client wins.

Kelly has overseen many blue-chip advertisers such as the IDA Ireland, Red Bull, The AA, League of Credit Unions, Dalata Hotel Group, PhoneWatch, Dublin Zoo, Circle K, Perrigo and Griffith College.

“There are huge opportunities for businesses in Ireland to really grasp the commercial opportunities that exist online," said Kelly. "Mediaworks UK’s team has a culture and approach that is impossible not to admire and we’re very confident that some of Ireland’s most talented and enthusiastic digital, marketing and communications practitioners will want to be a part of what we’re trying to achieve here.

“We’re on an aggressive recruitment and client acquisition drive. Our targets are ambitious but are based on a sound understanding of the opportunities that exist.”

Mediaworks UK, which counts the likes of Puma, Flogas, Miele, Cath Kidston and Metro Bank among its client base, delivers multi-discipline digital services including SEO, PPC, social, web and app development and creative brand communications.

“We’re so excited to see Declan at the helm and finally get our doors open for business in Dublin," said Brett Jacobson, founder of Mediaworks UK. "This has been long in the planning. I always envisaged Ireland as being our most natural first step for international expansion. We can’t wait to bring our digital expertise and understanding to the Irish market, but moreover start to attract some of the country’s finest talent to MWi."
