The Great Reset is an initiative created by The Purpose Disruptors, calls on the creative industry (including advertising, marketing PR and communications) to meaningfully respond to this moment and collaborate to tackle climate breakdown. On November 6th at 1PM, The Great Reset Ireland team will host a collaborative workshop, inviting members of the creative industry (and anyone else who is interested in joining!) to explore how they feel called to respond to this moment. The goal of this gathering is to get input from across the industry and identify areas and themes for collective meaningful action. Together, the group will discuss the vision for the movement, the kinds of change they wish to see and measurements of success as we plan for 2021. Everyone is welcome.

Individuals from Mindshare, THINKHOUSE, Folk Wunderman Thompson, PHD, Havas, Behaviour and Attitudes (B&A), McCann Dublin, IAPI, The Indie List, RTÉ and others have already pledged to be involved in The Great Reset in Ireland, and more continue to sign up. To-date, three Great Reset Ireland community gatherings have already taken place, alongside several PR industry-specific workshops.

In September, The Great Reset Ireland team revealed that 90% of the Irish public believe that the advertising industry should encourage people to behave more sustainably like during lockdown. 82% of respondents believe that businesses who are navigating out of the pandemic need to do their part for the environment. 59% of consumers agree that the Covid-19 crisis has positioned business for a Great Reset that puts people and planets needs first. Getting involved in The Great Reset is an opportunity to meet this moment and respond appropriately and courageously.

Due to the pause during Covid-19 lockdown, global emissions are predicted to be down 7% by the end of 2020. Inspired by these shifts and a concern for our planet, The Great Reset sets out to encourage the creative industries to reset during this time by ‘resetting ourselves, our work and our impact’ with a detailed white paper (co-authored by strategists at Gravity Road and THINKHOUSE) explaining why and how.

This Autumn in the UK, The Great Reset saw a creative campaign competition take place. Over 300 people from 30 competing agencies (including Irish agencies) responded to a brief, which asked the creative and advertising industry to ‘celebrate the accidental climate heroes of Britain’ and encourage them to make it a badge of honour. A new Ecoeffectiveness framework has also recently been launched to help the industry to reevaluate what it measures and celebrates as success.
