With the advertising industry facing a talent crisis globally, IAPI are seeking ways to broaden their talent recruitment and retention strategies to reach new talent and diversify the industry’s workforce.
Attracting talent into the commercial communications sector is an ongoing function here in IAPI and we have recently visited several campuses enabling us to introduce IAPI - our sector and our membership - to students through various careers fairs and working collaborative with faculty on course projects.
Here is a snapshot of some of the initiatives that we have participated in over the last couple of months:
- NCI - Festival of Marketing
- TU Dublin - Media Careers Event
- TU Tallaght - Guest Lecturing
- Maynooth University - Course Work Project
The National College of Ireland ran their annual Festival of Marketing career networking event on Wednesday, 26th February. This event brings employers and industry representatives onto campus to meet future graduates face to face with a view to highlighting potential areas for consideration for their careers.
IAPI were present alongside other companies and organisations including The Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII), Pernod Ricard, Kaseya, Vodafone, Richmond Marketing and Hays.
IAPI also hosted an information stand at the inaugural TU Dublin Media Careers Event which took place at their Grangegorman Campus. Students from a host of disciplines including Journalism, Public Relations, Creative Digital Media, and Film and Broadcasting programmes were in attendance.
IAPI were in attendance alongside Minding Creative Minds, The National Talent Academy for Animation, The Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII) & The Art Directors Guild of Ireland (ADGI).
This month we also introduced the 2025 1st year Advertising and Digital Media students to IAPI and the commercial communications sector.
A team of students liaised with IAPI’s Keith O Connor ahead of his guest speaking slot to develop their professional and networking skills as part of their studies.
For the 5th year running, IAPI has teamed up with Maynooth University to collaborate with and support the School of Business faculty. Dr Max Yu and IAPI’s Keith O’Connor have worked with the Marketing Communication students to set their project brief.
Students must consider three separate brands and evaluate their ability to harness advertising’s power to support consumer behaviour change through sustainability.
Students will work on this brief over the next couple of months and will deliver results in May.
