Only one-in-three people working from home want to go back to the workplace ‘right away’; over half (53%) would prefer to wait a few months. And the biggest worry about returning is the risk of infection by other employees.

Overall, 70% of respondents expect significant changes to the working environment in the future; most trust their employers to provide a safe environment and a majority believe work will be very different in the future.

  • Just under a third (31%) are working from home – with slightly more males than females doing so
  • Of those now working from home, 75% would normally share an office at their place of work – most with 5 or more people
  • 60% say they are equally or more productive – but frustration, stress and boredom are the most significant negatives
  • Six-out-of-ten think they have a better quality of life working from home – but a quarter disagree
  • Most think they have the tools to work effectively from home – 25% don’t
  • Well over half find it difficult to balance caring and work responsibilities – especially women or those in the 35-44 age bracket
  • Although most find working from home easier than they expected, twice as many (53%) would prefer to be in the workplace than would not (26%)
  • Younger people miss their colleagues more than older people do
